Happy standard time,
The live arts are near back to their former vigor, and Benny and I couldn’t be cheerier…though we can barely keep up!
October kicked off with Jonnie Reinhart’s Graveyard Smash at Tramp Stamp Granny s, then we saluted lyricist Howard Ashman at the Fountain Theater. I traveled to the Berkshires to rehearse a new opera at Mass MoCA, and with the home to himself, Benny diligently practiced the tuba. Spooky season culminated with a rousing Rocky Wh*re Queer Cabaret, directed and starring Jonnie, once again at TSG.
And as soon’s Hallowe’en turned to day, Benny and I donned our Santa hats to co-produce, -arrange and -orchestrate a Christmas album with firecracker vocalist Pia Toscano. We tracked the charts not even a week ago; now mixing while I type. Peal your eyes and ears for the LP’s imminent release!
Next Benny and I return to Club Cumming Friday, December 17, 8pm, after September’s splashing East Village debut. When There’s Music will unbox brand new songs whose lyrics range from Chanuka candles to alien invaders….sure to tickle both the naughty and nice this Christmastide. To our astonishment the premier presentation sold out (!); so we urge all Tri-Staters reserve as soon’s you’re able.
Other holiday engagements include a SoCal tour with undie-rockers The Skivvies and Broadway veteran Barbara Dixon’s ’Tis the Season to be Barbara in both Los Angeles (Feinstein’s at Vitello’s) and two dates at New York’s Green Room 42—
—but first, we stuff ourselves before our stockings. Bon appetit, Thanksgiving!
Love,
Jack
