Felicitations,
Just about a month ago jackbenny ravished Birdland Theater in New York; thanks again to everyone who participated in the spectacular evening—especially Jonnie Reinhart, Catriona Fray, Spencer Inch, and mom and dad. We’re thus returning to Birdland Tuesday, October 15, 7p, this time with a new show: All Aboard! the Train of Thought. New songs, new guests, and new shtick abound aboard! Sales are now open; book first-class before you're stuck in coach, or, worse yet, when we've no seats left.
In the meantime Benny and I appear all throughout the Southland. First off, we team with mom to deliver All in the Family at the Rubicon Theatre of Ventura, California for two performances only, August 24 (8p) and 25 (2p). We’ll interpret selections from the playlist of the unconventional Lipson home spanning Broadway classics, 60’s pop hits, and ~of course~ a few JB originals. And in between the music, vintage videos and adorable photos will accompany anecdotes from our family life on and offstage. PLUS ever-trusty Theo Seidmon drums! To our Angeleno readers, consider a beach day, then show night staycation Saturday—or show day, beach night on Sunday. Reserve seats on our website or directly through the Rubicon’s box office.
And the following weekend The Piano Men reprises at California Center for the Arts, Escondido with two showings August 31 and September 1. If you dig Billy Joel’s and Elton John’s hit tunes, both performances have nearly sold out, so purchase a-sap. Peruse JB’s online calendar, which Benny so arduously designs and updates, to find all our local engagements, including the upcoming A Queer Cabaret: Woodstock, For Good, and a new weekly we’ve launched with Jonnie Reinhart, Revolver Revue, in West Hollywood.
Otherwise preparing Brainstorm for an upcoming reading, and some unique collaborations with the LA Philharmonic…and a return to Luckman Fine Arts next year. Share more soon—see ya around ’n stay cool!
Love,
Jack
